These are a few creature concepts for a game setting which involves alien first contact interactions, think Warhammer 40k crossed with Master of Orion. The forms for the alien species are intended to contrast the typical humanoid form, because there will be no playable human faction. Unlike typical sci-fi settings, the human species is not present yet and when they do emerge, they will be a unstoppable menace sweeping through known space devouring all within their reach.
This was made to go with the Scavenger character walking animation and I liked it so much that I decided to compose a still image from the various elements.
This was the third concept piece I made using Photoshop for the Leviathan pitch and another game that wasn't made.
This was my first attempt at a designing a battleship, taking inspiration from Starblazers and Robotech designs, and although much was changed, some elements did make it into the final version.
Another concept for Leviathan; this one is the player. This was insufficient as the player ship was required to be able to reconfigure itself for different purposes like sprinting and breaking. This fighter actually has the USAF insignia next to the cockpit.
A concept phase mockup of the HUD for Leviathan. The end result had very much the same feel. A new crosshair was designed and some weapon recharge bars were added to it (simiar to Half-Life 2), and some elements were moved relocated to other areas of the screen.
